About Organization



Playmas Montreal Cultural Association is a Quebec Chartered non-profit organization founded by Gemma Raeburn Baynes in 2000, with the mission of promoting Diasporic Caribbean cultures through storytelling, literature, performing arts, music, food and entertainment to the greater Montreal area.

It has as its mandate to promote multiculturalism through art, spoken word and performing arts while contributing to entrepreneurial multiculturalism.

On an annual basis, Playmas Montreal Cultural Association also coordinates, A Taste of Tea - Caribbean Tea Party honouring women and commemorating International Women's Day; Rum & Party in the midst of Winter, celebrating the award winning rums of the Caribbean;  Montreal Caribbean Fashion Week, fashion shows to expose black male and female young people to the world of modeling and showcasing Black Designers living in Montreal and in the Caribbean and Let's Hear it for the Boys, a luncheon for Father's Day, honoring black men and boys who are role models in the community.
